Club Info

Warwick Model Flyers has been an active model flying club since 1970/71. It became affiliated to the British Model Flying Association (formerly SMAE) from 1st January 1990.

The Club operates a private flying site between Daventry and Southam by arrangement with a local farmer. The airstrip has a grass ‘square’ with a windsock to indicate wind direction. No one can fly at the site without BMFA insurance and (unless they are a guest or visitor) must have paid the club subscription .

We make no apology for being vague about the specific location of our site. We have worked very hard developing our site, parking and access to ensure that the site provides the best possible amenity for our members. Non-members have no right to use the club site.  Please do not  drive round trying to find it and just turn up at the field. – if you want to join us we supply you with information as to how to find the field and arrange that there are people around to welcome you. However we currently have a large waiting list and so are not accepting any further applications for the time being (August 2020).

At our flying site we fly all types of radio control models:  Internal combustion (glow and petrol), electric planes, EDF, gliders and helicopters but not jet turbines. We can fly every day of the week between 10:00 and dusk.

Electric flight has now become a big part of the flying at the Club, with most members now owning an electric model or two, electric gliders are common too. A small number of Club members have produced an excellent bunjee launch system.

We have facilities for cooking, the making of hot drinks, and a hangar (Club house) for meetings and repairs (should the need arise). (After Covid-19 restrictions are lifted)

During the summer months we have competitions and barbecues, all of which have good attendance.

The AGM is normally held at the Blue Lias Public House, Stockton Road, Stockton, Southam CV47 8LD on the second Tuesday of December.
